Hi, I'm Barbara, and I'm an Occupational Therapist.

I am a certified and registered Occupational Therapist.  I graduated with a BSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alberta in 1999 and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Alberta in 1994.  Since graduating, I have supported children with a range of diagnoses including autism and developmental differences in hospital, school and home environments.  I have engaged in extensive professional development in toileting, sensory processing, feeding, and fine motor skills, and have completed specialized training in multiple sensory-based intervention approaches. As a mother and a therapist, I am dedicated to bringing fun into all areas of my work with children and I am passionate about helping children and families achieve their goals.

My Story

As an Occupational Therapist, I am uniquely qualified to support neurodivergent individuals in learning toileting skills because I understand the complex interplay between sensory processing, communication, motor planning, and daily routines. I use evidence-based, individualized strategies to break toileting into achievable steps while respecting each person’s developmental level and neurodiversity. My experience allows me to identify underlying barriers—such as sensory sensitivities, interoceptive awareness, or anxiety—and create supportive environments that promote independence and dignity. By partnering closely with families and caregivers, I help build consistent routines that foster long-term success across settings.

I am licensed to provide services in Alberta, Canada.
